It has been becoming very obvious that vitamin B12 plays an important role in the immune system modulation. Despite of the proven relation, the details and explanation remain yet unexplained .
People with vitamin B12 deficiency were found to have low immunity associated with decreased white blood cells. Restoration of vitamin B12 levels resulted in improved immunity, suggesting an important role for vitamin B12.
At the other hand, patients with excessively enhanced immunity as in cases of Alzheimer's disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis, were also noticed to have vitamin B12 deficiency and increased levels of the amino acid "Homocysteine".
